error installing important udate for windows vista

I have window vista and I keep getting told by my computer that I have one imprtant update to install.  Problem is when I try to install it I keep getting error code 8007371B.  I have googled error code and only find others with the same problem.  My question is, have you experienced this and do you know how to fix.  Thanks for reading and thanks for your help.

I havent had any problems with my own updates to date. *knocks on wood and any other good luck thing he can do while he prays for continued update success* If you can find out what update is failing then try going to the microsoft site and downloading the update manually. If that fails download it on another computer and save the file to a flash drive and transfer it to the ailing computer.

have you tried doing the update right after a clean boot (from total power-off for at least 30 seconds)?  If so, and no joy, then read this.

If nothing there gets it fixed ... >sigh< ... scan through this list of over 200 possible instances of your problem and see if you can find any that describe yours in further detail. (Yep... NO matches for that exact error code number. Are you sure you got it right?)

I tried downloading it manually from website still did not install.  I tried doing it after I did a clean and still did not work.  I downloaded belarc adivisor and it confirms that I am missing one update.  This is info about the update  Cumulative Security Update for Internet Explorer (939653): MS07-057
