it's got good bargains, as well as a large community of gamers.

i recommend it, but that's just me, never had any problems with it so far.

oh and not only that, but on some games, like "Left for dead" and other co-op games, you can buy bargain packs, which is a pack of 4 of the game, so you can have one and send 3 to your friends.

you can also use it too communicate, meet new people, and talk to like minded gamers on the steam forums.

Steam is pretty good, I've used it to buy and download a few games. I think you need it in order to play some games, like Half Life and Portal for example. Don't know for sure.

And they have deals as well. I just bought a 4-pack of older games for $13 (Assassin's Creed, Far Cry 2, Call of Juarez, and a Tom Clancy shooter game). I've actually downloaded one of them, the other three are ready for download when I'm ready. I own them, they're just not on my computer yet.

You can add people as friends too, and chat with them, but I don't use it like that. Just use it for buying games I probably wouldn't have went out and bought. Yay for online shopping!

Its great, has got an easy interface and what has already been mentioned such as good PC game Deals. Better than buying the games on disc imo too.

It does the same thing as X-Fire, plus you have the ability to purchase games through it(The majority of newer online games go through Steam).

The program itself is relativity small, but being as you download games through it, it just depends on how many games you have.

No, it does not interfere with any online game play, being as that it is its primary purpose, to be used to purchase, and communicate during online games.

Also, as JANE said, it has some great deals on some of the older games(I bought that same pack).

The problem I have with steam is that it constantly updates each of your games.  If I didn't select which games I wanted to update, I wouldn't have room to store all my games (I only have about 10 steam games, mind you).  It does the exact same thing that xfire does, only it is required to run several games and you can also purchase and gift games for yourself and others.

It wont interfere while in game. When you get messaged on xfire, it comes up in the bottom of the screen right? Steam just drops down in the coprner for 3 seconds and goes away ^^

I would recommend it Unless you get a small amount of download usage a month. Like I only get 12GB which sometime can be a whole game, then I would have run out in like a day. I have used it at my friends house though and it's great. I would really encourage you to get it if you get more download usage then me

I do use steam for GTA 4 and the Call of Duty's.

To be honest, it is a good piece of software and has awesome deals for games. But I prefer buying a game from a shop so I have a hard copy of it.
