Along the east coast here in the US, there was a 5.8-6.0 magnitude earthquake! I lived through it :) At the most for me, just a tissue box fell off the shelf and gladly my house and my neighborhood sounds all safe and sound. What are your experiences through this once in a lifetime experience (at least here in the D.C. area)

Thanks JANE, Crimson, and Lucky for this AMAZING sig!~

I have friends in North Carolina, West Virginia and Maryland, all of whom felt it.  I didn't feel anything over here :)  Glad you're ok.

I felt it in PA, but the funny thing is, for 4 days I was on a work trip in Virginia and just got back late last night. Boy, I think I really would have felt in there. But, no major damage, just a very, very rare occurrence on the east coast.

Sitting in a meeting at work: very strange and disconcerting when an entire building starts to shake and the floor move. People asked what is that? I said earthquake right way, most didn't believe me. Only second one I remember in Maryland. Just glad it wasn't a bad one and everyone I know is safe. Don't want to be involved with a strong one.

Interesting now that I've lived on the US West Coast for 3+ decades now....

The equivalent of a surprising and dangerous natural event out here in CAH-LEE-FOR-NEE-AH is a lightning storm during the summer dry season.  (It's so dry when these rare events occur that the rain EVAPORATES BEFORE IT HITS THE GROUND!)

This is why you see news video of L.A. going up in flames sometimes....  :'(

I only ever felt a quake during all my years in Michigan just once, and that was pretty light.

Now that I rode through the Loma Prieta quake (just 8 miles from the epicenter at the time!  :o ) and dozens of smaller quakes every year out here I've gotten prepared for them. (Yes, that's possible!)

It is, indeed, very good to hear that it wasn't The Big One (see New Madrid fault) that's due out there in the Eastern/Midwestern US (yet.)

Methinks it should serve as a good warning for those folks to PLAN and PREPARE for when that day does come, tho!

I didn't feel it here in Georgia, most likely because I was running around too much at work.... Some friends claim to have felt it.
Being a good racer in Halo isn't just about getting the best times. You have to know where your teammates and enemies are, and most of all... how to be crafty! XD -nods-

Oh... and "v.v" = sad face.

Props to Plixity for the first sig, Slayton for the Season XIII trophy sig, and Jane for the banner! Thx guys! ^.^

I was on a vent server at the time, and everyone was like "does anyone else feel an earthquake?!" Was quite exciting, considering it was my first one, or the first that I felt anyway.

A big earthquake followed up by a big hurricane. Hope it's not the start of a new trend.

The next thing could be a big medal haul for the US at the World Athletics Championships, though.
Check out my Short introduction... corner and my "Historical figures who should perhaps be better-known" thread!!
