BFM Forum Broken...Virus...Reported Attack Site!
« on: January 31, 2013, 10:23:13 PM »
Hello, I am using a proxy right now otherwise I wouldn't be able to navigate the forums.

The past week on and off the forums will show up like the picture and then redirect to google.com.

No Proxys being used, no firewall or a/v interference. Weirdest thing

We've been working on it for the past couple days actually, but thanks for the info. = )
Being a good racer in Halo isn't just about getting the best times. You have to know where your teammates and enemies are, and most of all... how to be crafty! XD -nods-

Oh... and "v.v" = sad face.

Props to Plixity for the first sig, Slayton for the Season XIII trophy sig, and Jane for the banner! Thx guys! ^.^

We are continuing to work on it.  We can fix it, but the problem eventually comes back, so it may take a few days to sort out a permanent solution

Unh-ohhh....

I smell another new forums site coming soon....  ::)  (I think that would make it the fifth forum since I joined the BFM forums? Any other "Old Timers" here remember those other incarnations??  Here's one!)

Whatever it was was modifying pages that are static anyway, so I locked them down a bit tighter. Maybe that did it, who knows.  It was all pretty harmless, but a pain...

That's what you'll see if you Google "BFM Racing forums".  Their web crawlers flagged the site. Once we're sure everything is clean, we'll request they recheck it and that should go away.

I know I am not allowed to swear, but when I tried it with IE instead of Chrome the forum worked.
Then again, that might say enough about both of them.....

There are two things going on.  One is whether or not the forums currently have any malicious code in them.  At the moment I think they do not.

The second thing is whether Google has flagged the site as possibly malicious, which they have.

Chrome obviously is reporting based on the flagged site, not necessarily because there's still anything wrong.

IE doesn't have knowledge that Google is suspicious, so if the site is clean you won't have a problem.

Hopefully Google can be convinced of the cleanliness real soon otherwise my work production will start to soar at work where I can no longer access the home of BFM. :muah:
