If it's only when you're playing a game, I'd guess the vid card is overheating.   Not a laptop is it?  I'd check that the internals are clean from dust, fans clean and running, possibly re-seat the card, and run a temp monitor and watch what happens when you fire up Sim City.

Well today I used some of this compressed air in a can thingy to remove all that dusty dust from inside the case, I also got the dust off the fans then ran the computer. I opened speed fan and used that to monitor temperature. While playing need for speed the GPU temperature went up to 60C then froze for about 1 second then restarted. After that I got out the ac fan. And turned that on to push the hot air out faster. That kept the temperature at around 48-50C yet the computer still froze and restarted. All I can think of doing is to get someone with experience to take a look at it.

Have you ruled out CPU heat as the problem yet?  (You only gave GPU-related info above....)  Especially since you have only GPU failure cases to go by.

Try running something CPU-intensive* & non-GPU-intensive and watching the CPU temps.  (It is likely that your CPU is also getting a lot of workload/heat during those GPU-intensive games, right? )  If possible, watch your CPU speeds/temps during those runs.

In my experience the greater majority of these cases it's the CPU-to-cooler (grease) contact being poor, thus causing CPU overheating in heavy usage situations.

I.e. Don't bark up the GPU tree in a blind rush....

That code is related to his GPU driver crashing, which is why it's only doing it while gaming...

Did your computer update recently, or did you change your graphics driver? Nvidia cards are NOTORIOUS for crashing from drivers.

His last code Stop 0x0000000000000004 is a driver power state failure...

Yes it did update recently.  Theere was a windows security update thing. Around 200kb, I had trouble installing with windows updater so I went on their webside and downloaded it manually. There was also a 200mb or so file for nvidia adapter. Or something I would have to look at update history. The computer was doing this before those updates I'm pretty sure.

I would try uninstalling your graphics driver, and reinstalling the latest driver version... this is normally the first thing I do when my Nvidia cards start blue screening me. Only thing I hate about Nvidia is their drivers are garbage most of the time.

Well, ive updated my graphics drivers by installing 314.22, I also got  NVIDIA GeForce Experience, so hopefully that will help me keep my drivers updated, or it will let me know when I check the program.
If I have any problems when I start some games up ill post back here.

Yeah it just did it again

Thought I should post this:
Game running

No game open

Interesting.

Your system fan works harder when playing - as would be expected, but your CPU - not your GPU - jumps 10oC....  ::)

Pretty-much everything else looks "normal," including a small bump in Vcore load.

As for drivers: I NEVER, EVER let them auto update!  I've gotten sick of all the "surprises" that resulted from that game, especially from Nvidia!

I MANUALLY request an update (through Windows Update) of them once, maybe twice a year, and I BE SURE to do System Restore points before and immediately after, as I've had to back them off more than once in the past....  :siren:

CPU temp is showing a negative number...

CPU temp is showing a negative number...

Unfortunately due to the huge number and variation of mobos, monitors such as Speedfan often get some things wrong. It can be anything from inverted values - such as shown - to total garbage values.

All you can do is to look at it in differing circumstances and look for sensible "trends."

However, I usually treat values such as "freezing cold heatsink" to be in the "total garbage" bin....  ::)

P.S. I think Speedfan has the ability to let you try/change to other mobo profiles.  One of them might have the right CPU temp info, but then it may have other info wrong instead.  ::)

Speedfan did give the option to change some settings but it gave a warning that if you don't know what your doing it could cause some damage. So I left it alone

Irregardless his temps look in check... so I would still lean towards a software issue, or hardware fault.

Not going to be the case most likely, but I've had this exact fault with a 560. - turned out to be faulty memory on the graphics card, try your previous drivers first, if this is only happening since the update. then look down the diagnosing hardware route and RMA :)

Worked for me.  ;D
