On the no profanity rule...
« on: July 26, 2007, 11:36:35 PM »
While I am all for eradicating profanity from the servers, I do not agree with the message displayed when someone uses profanity, stating that it is a family server so there is to be no swearing. I do not believe that anyone under the legal age would be able to purchase and play this game, so perhaps if it was changed so as to say something along the lines of "Please no profanity, we wish to keep the chat clean. Thankyou.". If it is impossible to change, or you have a good rebuttal, then I will withdraw my complaint. But please, consider.

We have many parents that race on our servers with their kids that find halo race a fun competitive game. On our vent there is no fear of hearing any profanity. We do the best we can to control the language in our servers to hopefully provide what we like to call a family server. There are those who thrive on contesting our rules and love to tell us that Halo is rated M for mature. Ok, so what is so mature about swearing? Typically a person who swears for the sake of swearing is showing their lack of maturity and will usually get escorted from the server free of charge.. There are so many servers out there that these racers that feel the need to stop their game just so they can type profanity can race. Make a lot of sense , doesn't it? Our members are committed to maintain our servers to best of their ability at the cost of they themselves being able to race competivly.

"M-rated refers to the single player campaign ONLY.  The rating of a server is decided by those who pay for those servers (BFM).  We wish to keep ours G-rated".

the last comment was actually posted by another memebr (BFM_Wic )...I thought it  answered your question perfectly, so I decided to add it.

I try very hard to be respectful to our guest. You said if we make a good point you would withdraw your complaint. You complaining about us saying this is a family server means nothing to me. Just tells me that your someone who doesn't get what we have been doing for all our guest. If your someone who is offended by something as minor as that then you should find a different server to play in. Why does it matter to you that we call our servers Family servers?? Does it hurt you in some way? Or are you just looking for something to complain about. I think its the latter. The rating mature is such a weak argument that we have heard many times. We also have had many guest who thank us for what we are doing.

Also your dead wrong when you say a young person cant buy a M rated game. We all no better than that. There is no reason to actually take the time to type out profanity in a game and show your immaturity while playing. Adults should have a better way of dealing with things rather than wasting time typing out profanity. Please don't withdraw your complaint. We aren't trying to convince you what we have is a good thing. The fact is you made up your mind about that already when you tried to find something to pick at us about.

We will continue to say our servers are Family servers. We will continue to do our best to keep them that way. Its your choice where you want to race. Its our choice to run our servers the way we feel is right.

Ok, I understand why that is now. Consider the topic dropped, and I look forward to racing you guys sometime.

"Does it hurt you in some way? Or are you just looking for something to complain about?"

I pick option c... trying to understand the mentality behind calling it a family server. It's all perfectly sane, now I understand the reason. Before I looked at it and saw a society that gives 8 year olds easy access to blood and gore, now I see a clan that wishes to be the guiding light in a server list full of uncensored servers.

Thanks for that.  :)
