7.0 actually isnt that low.. and from what im guessing its probably not over clocked or anything? but i do know the AMD 970 gets a windows 7 score of 7.4 our of box :)

yeh 7.0 isnt bad however compareing that to my old phenom ii x3 unlocked to  x4 that gets a score of 6.6 thats only 0.4 of an improvment not alot when you see it that way.

yep the AMD 970 is way more powerfull and the reson for this is the i7 950 is only a 4 core prossesor but it has 4 vurtial cores ( not pysical ones ) now in theory you would think this more powerfull however all i7 cpu,s are throtled back so they can have the so called turbo boost feature that for a short time runs the chip at is full potential but for 95% of the time its running at the lower speed and its not even something you can disable were as the AMD 970 runs at its top speed at all times granted amd have coolnquiet but you can disable that in the bios

The "Turboboost" is a great feature. It may seem counter-productive to have the chip underclocked on a daily basis, but it easily (and without any user input) ramps up to full power when it is required.

Think of it as saving energy while not really having an affect on the user.

And ye, I haven't OC'd it. I've yet to find a good guide and I'm somewhat afraid of trying it out. Don't want a hunk of molten metal sitting in my case :P

I'd have to say that most of these systems probably run Halo PC pretty well =]

I need to get a new PC to run Diablo III, but it's so expensive.  D=

I'd build it myself from individual parts, but it's still expensive if I get something that's going to last me as long as this PC has.

FYI - something I've said here before but can no longer find:

If you keep and use the same computer for three years, you've gotten your money back out of it.  (I.e. It's depreciated to zero.)  Every DAY you use it beyond that you're "making money" off of it.

I usually build myself a new machine every four or five years.

Note: This all depends on whether I see a PC "sweet spot" is coming up.  That's when I see any two of mobos/GAs/CPUs a good step up, but now "commoditized" and two new developments in general technology - usu [disk/storage] device speeds and PCI-E. Then I design and build a machine that's basically "one step BELOW" the latest and greatest of everything.  hence I usually get all my components on sale/clearance and can build a pretty beefy - albeit "just-out-of-date," cutting-edge-wise machine. see here for latest example.

FYI: I've just recently begun looking/considering my next machine, since USB 3.0 is now commodity and I've seen this mobo, although it will likely NOT be the mobo that I end up choosing, it has the advanced feature set that raises the first flag for "it's time to start looking around" for me now.
