AVI on Windows Movie Maker
« on: December 09, 2009, 05:13:40 PM »
OK this is not working for me. So, I don't have the right codecs to play open AVI files in Window Movie Maker. I downloaded The K-Lite codec pack, and can now view the videos in Windows Media Player, but I still can't open them in Windows Movie Maker.

I need this for a project,  and believe me I would  much rather be using Pinaccle Studio over Windows Movie Maker, but Nooo  :P

Thanks guys any help would be sooooo greatly appreciated beyond belief

(Oh and the not to rush anyone, but i need this by Friday at the latest.  :embarrassing: )

That must be a fairly interesting avi file if movie maker can not open it. Is there a chance you could get another avi file that movie maker would be happier with? Other then that you could reencode the avi file so Windows Movie Maker is happier with it.

VirtualDub is a good one I like that should be able to get the job done.

I am not to experienced with Movie maker or how it works in releation to using codecs. I am more of a video encoder then an editor. When I get home I might try to google your problem more, but hopefully someone else might beable to help.

P,S. Lucky you dont live in Australia. Because it is 1:15pm Thursday ATM

Well, I just spent 3 hours converting all the files on my incredibly slow, yet AVI codec enabled  :o, laptop!  So problem solved.... Although now I'm exhausted, and didn't get a chance to do any real editing.  :-\ Oh well  :P

Thanks for the advice Taipan......but reencoding....I'm no good with that

Thanks anyway and goodnight
