IE8 Available
« on: March 19, 2009, 10:31:32 PM »

Microsoft have a release version of IE8 available today.  I have had to use IE7 and IE8 for work, and although IE8 had some nice features, it (the beta) was horribly unstable.

Have used the release version today and it's very stable and fast compared to IE7, in my experience anyway.

You can download it from microsoft.com/ie8

I wonder if it'll allow me to use IE6 stand-alone with it. Hmm...

LOL!  :siderofl:

No! It was directed at MICRO$OFT!

FYI: IE8 is getting a "pretty cool" welcome, it seems.  ::)

Note: The stuff about "The browser also has compatibility issues with Web standards [...]" is SUPPOSED to be taken into account ("fixed") in this new release, but it sounds like IE8 users have yet to discover it's new "compatibility browsing" mode that is supposed to enable IE to (FINALLY!) browse using 'Web standards....

Have never liked IE at all.

6 gave you nothing but a browser and it was slow as heck.
7 copied the tabbing from firefox and prefetching, but was STILL slow.

I honestly was having trouble loading a page here at college and tried IE since to loads slightly different than FF and after one minute it had not loaded anything. Firefox at least had the headers and footers loaded plus some images...

Sticking with FF indefinitely.

I think if you use IE8 Microsoft will know much more about your internet behavior. Nearly every Microsoft program wants to sent data to a server from Microsoft. If I hadn't got a firewall asking me to allow these connections, Microsoft would know my account number and PIN

As of recently, I am getting frustrated with Firefox. It takes up a lot of memory on my computer when I open tabs and with 1 GB RAM, it gets really hard to multitask. Sometimes it will spike to over 120,000 K for no reason. If this continues, I will be switching to IE...
