Did this occur in space? xD
Being a good racer in Halo isn't just about getting the best times. You have to know where your teammates and enemies are, and most of all... how to be crafty! XD -nods-

Oh... and "v.v" = sad face.

No supe, it was on good ol' terra firma.

~~*HINT*~~ Our scene is set in a generic, typical peasant village.

There is no giving up Frags, this could go on for days! Now do you see what you've gotten yourself into?

Was he some kind of hero, like Robin Hood, stealing from the rich, etc?

Perhaps, a... Zombie appocalypse, the thief, stole anything worth stealing in order to survive, as he forsaw the zombie invasion, through an enlightening dream, making him paranoid, until it did happen so he was prepared?

For some reason I have the feeling that everyone was invited to some event (probably all fugitives or something of the like). At this dinner/supper of sorts all the food was poisoned excluding that of the person who poisoned the food/ordered the food to be poisoned. Our thief stole that person's food and ate it instead of his own, perhaps switching his with the non-poisoned food. Thus, when everyone but our thief ate their food they died. -nods-

Lesson learned: Never eat/drink something someone offers you unless they eat/drink the exact same thing (be sanitary of course).

I was going to ask if poison was involved too, but I couldn't think how it would involve the thief.

Superman got it almost exactly.
Our peasant thief was actually quite young. He stole some food from the village store and when his parents found out they sent him to bed with no supper.

Subsequently, the whole family sat down for their evening repast which had included a variety of freshly picked wild mushrooms. Unfortunately, the meal contained many poisonous ones and, due to this taking place pre-medicine, the whole family died. excepting of course, our little thief.

Yer-Up Supe!

Two men are talking. P1 says to the other, "The land of the free." P2 responds, "The home of the brave." P1 then says, "The terror of flight." P2 quickly responds, "The gloom of the grave." Authorities then arrest P2.

Why?
