Well, since my previously-stellar rig had a mobo death, I took the opportunity to upgrade. (Heh, no one even makes those 3-year-old types of mobo any more!  No one even STOCKS THEM!)

First time I've ever had a machine that didn't last at least five years....  :'(

Here are my upgrades:

Motherboard: MSI P67A-GD80 (B3) [$185]
CPU: Intel C15 2500K (3.3GHz, LGA1155, 6MB cache) [$149]
CPU Fan: ThermalTake Frio (only using 1 of 2 fans, the exhaust fan) [$50]
Memory: Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600 (two 4 GB sticks) [$75]

...So I just got myself a "new computer" for $359.... (And MAN does it run QUIET and COOL AS A CUCUMBER!  OC here I come!)

I'll probably get a SATA III HDD or an SDD to use as my main (OS) drive sometime mid-late next year now.

And I guess I'll start looking at updating my graphics cards in a couple of years....  (I hate doing it piecemeal tho!  :-\ )

No pix: All you can see in the case is the HUGE CPU FAN!  :siderofl:

Thx, but nah - my SLI'd dual 9600GT OCs have a good ~2 years left before they're pushed past the limits of what's out and what will be out during that time frame.

However, if Skyrim doesn't look absolutely gorgeous and play well I may be back in the market!

New Laptop~
HP Pavilion dv7 model
i5 2400 something CPU, dual core, multi-threaded.
6 gigs of RAM
i5 sandy Integrated GPU plus AMD 6490m 1gb GDDR5
17.3in 1600x900
Blu Ray.
This thing flies. The GPU's work together somehow, not sure how its done tbh.
CoD4 maxxed 1600x900 just amazing. MC just amazing. TheHunter plays maxxed flawlessly. I just love this thing.

That looks like a nice rig however a few things would concern me.

Primarily the  Lowcapacity  SSD at only 60gig you wont beable to do much with it at all as windows will eat around 20gig leaveing 40gig and by the time you install other suporting programs you will only beable to install maby 1 perhaps 2 games if your lucky. You could  install a standard HDD and install the rest of your games to this but doing so would negate the point of haveing a SSD drive in the first place. The other problem with low capacity SSD drives is that they have a very low operational life becuse all SSD use write leveling.  This is were the data is always writen to random parts of the SSD thus proventing nand cells getting warn out to quickly and the drive failing befor its time.  But on a low capacity drive if you fill it up and have very limited space  then the drives firmware will be forced to use what little space is left  for its write leveling proces and it will use this little area over and over and thus this little area will ware out rapidly and eventualy fail causing you to loose data / crash / fail to boot.
(As a side note Do not defrag your SSD)

Secondly The Usb Wirless Adapter Isnt gameing spec its great for simple online tasks  tho.  I had one simular and i receved nothing  but extra lag becuse of its low end design upgradeing this i would concider as a prority  if you want to have any level of online gameing  performance.

Thirdly The motherboard well you cant fault it it is a very good motherboard  the only thing you can faul is the price becuse quite simply uoi could have got a gigabyte equivilant for alot cheaper and it would perform just as good and you could have then used the extra cash to buy a larger capacity SSD

Rig has arrived and is built

Some of the issues you said equinox I am trying to deal with, specially the memory one. I should be able to get around it. It has a 2tb storage hard drive but accsesing it is a pain for some reason. as for price they are a bit different in Australia. And I need a wireless adapter or its nothing, I have no landline in this room.  anyway here are the pics. Bad phone camera but what are ya gonna do

All in all im quite happy  ;D
