Well, since my
previously-stellar rig had a mobo death, I took the opportunity to upgrade. (Heh, no one even makes those 3-year-old types of mobo any more! No one even STOCKS THEM!)
First time I've ever had a machine that didn't last at least five years....
Here are my upgrades:
Motherboard:
MSI P67A-GD80 (B3) [$185]
CPU:
Intel C15 2500K (3.3GHz, LGA1155, 6MB cache) [$149]
CPU Fan:
ThermalTake Frio (only using 1 of 2 fans, the exhaust fan) [$50]
Memory:
Kingston 8GB DDR3 1600 (two 4 GB sticks) [$75]
...So I just got myself a "new computer" for
$359....
(And MAN does it run QUIET and COOL AS A CUCUMBER! OC here I come!)I'll probably get a SATA III HDD or an SDD to use as my main (OS) drive sometime mid-late next year now.
And I guess I'll start looking at updating my graphics cards in a couple of years.... (I hate doing it piecemeal tho!
)
No pix: All you can see in the case is the HUGE CPU FAN!
